ACTION: Notice of Proposed Rulemaking

SUMMARY: The Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) proposes to amend its rules governing Non-Vessel-Operating Common Carrier (NVOCC) Negotiated Rate Arrangements and NVOCC Service Arrangements. The proposed rule is intended to modernize, update, and reduce regulatory burdens.

DATES: Submit comments on or before January 29, 2018.

First Electronic Customs Broker Exams Set for October 25

CBP will administer the first electronic Customs Broker License Examination on October 25. Interested applicants have until September 22 to register for the upcoming exam. The transition from a written to electronic exam is part of CBP's efforts to modernize trade operations.

Update: The U.S. Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has made a posting on the Federal Register about the issue, and the final rule is expected to be published on August 15. 
While U.S. Vice President Mike Pence’s visit to Colombia has mostly been focused on addressing the crisis gripping Venezuela, the trip has also brought some positive news for the country’s agricultural sector.
